أعلنت الحكومة الإسبانية بأنها لا تزال تمنح ثقتها في مديرة الحرس المدني والمدير المُساعد للعمليات في هذا الجهاز الأمني، وأنها لا تنوي عزلهما من منصبيهما، وفقا للقانون الإسباني، فإن استدعاء شخص بصفة “قيد التحقيق” Investigadoلا يعني إدانته، وإنما يعني أن القاضي يرى أن هناك مؤشرات تستوجب الاستماع إلى أقواله وجمع الأدلة قبل اتخاذ أي قرار بشأن توجيه الاتهام أو حفظ القضية.
ولا يزال المسؤولان المذكوران بالحرس المدني الإسباني يتمتعان بقرينة البراءة حتى يثبت خلاف ذلك بحكم قضائي نهائي”.
